Description
Essential Duties:

    Applies specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, conditions and addictions, including severe mental illness in adults.
    Uses various treatment methods, including evidence-based treatment modalities i.e. Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Problem-Solving Therapy, etc. in the provision of individual, marital, couples counseling and family and group therapy.
    Uses the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), and other diagnostic classification systems in assessment, diagnosis and other activities.
    Applies specialized knowledge and advanced practice skills in the areas of treatment planning, implementation and evaluation, consultation, education, research and advocacy.
    Responsible for provision of evidence-based counseling services.
    Makes appropriate referrals to Methodist Healthcare Ministries(MHM) Social Worker for case management services and conducts follow up to ensure service delivery.
    Promotes interactive communication with other MHM programs and/or services, the community and other community agencies.
    Responsible for day-to-day operation of case flow, assessments, and crisis interventions.
    Implements policies and procedures and recommends any needed modifications.
    Participates in activities to develop and maintain quality assurance indicators that evaluate the effectiveness of the counseling program.
    Assists in the planning, coordinating and implementing of projects and programs to include but not limited to identifying needs, researching and managing caseloads.
    Develops and maintains effective working relationships with individuals and families referred for counseling.
    Develops and maintains a cumulative record for each client receiving counseling services as required by professional licensure standards and MHM policies and procedures.
    Develops intervention strategies to meet client short-term and long-term treatment goals.
    Maintain productivity expectations established by supervisor.
    Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills
Education/Experience:

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field and two (2) years clinical experience providing psychotherapy and counseling required.

Notes
Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as professional journals, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to read, analyze and interpret medical documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
