Kings Bay was selected as the Navy’s Commander-in-Chief Installation Excellence Award winner for 2007. The barracks, galley, gym, and other support services on the upper base were built with talking in mind. No building is more than a 15-minute walk from any other. The base encompasses about 16,000 acres, 4,000 of which are protected wetlands.
