Description
Primary Responsibilities:
Compounding and dispensing medications, as prescribed by physicians.
Reviews and executes physician’s prescriptions checking their appropriateness and legality
Organize the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster
Maintain full control over delivering, stocking and labeling medicine and other products and monitor their condition to prevent expiring or deterioration
Listen carefully to customers to interpret their needs and issues and offer information and advice
Provides assistance with other medical services such as injections, blood pressure/ temperature measurements etc.
Prepare medicine when appropriate using correct dosages and material for each individual patient
Keep records of patient history and of all activities regarding heavy medication
Keep abreast of advancements in medicine by attending conferences and seminars and collaborating with other healthcare professionals
Comply with all applicable legal rules, regulations and procedure
Responsible for the execution of opening and closing activities; either directly, or through delegation to a staff / per-diem pharmacist. Ensures that strict procedures are followed around the facility.
Represent the facility in all state and federal regulatory audits, visits, and communication.
Oversee FQHC pharmacy 340b program adherence and ensure its profitability and good standing.
Directly supervise staff / per-diem pharmacists. Assists in hiring, training and supervising of Pharmacy staff.
Ensures that production and financial goals are created, tracked, and met. Identify trends or issues that are delaying batch production or causing batches to be cancelled.
Writing operational and production SOP’s.
Liaison with the quality department.
Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulatory agencies.
Assist in documentation and completion of Adverse Drug Event forms.
Answer clinical questions from health professionals and provide product information.
Support order verification within computer order processing queue to ensure facility and product accuracy.
Review of all batch records and associated documentation verification.
Ensure safe work environments, enforcing operational discipline, and monitoring aseptic behaviors.
Efficiently utilize tools and metrics (KPI’s) to monitor staff productivity, deliverables, timelines, and quality of work product to adjust staffing levels and operational processes as needed to ensure operational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Degree in pharmacy / pharmacology with valid license to practice the profession. 5-8 years of pharmacist experience. Management or PIC experience preferred.
Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands, inventory processes, DEA, FDA and state regulations, standard ERP/MRP systems and compliance requirements.
Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and Pharmacy information systems (CareTend, Rx30, WinRx, etc.)
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies (auditors, inspectors and regulatory agencies), and the public. Ability to manage and lead pharmacy operations.
Experience with business and management principles, financial reports and business unit P&L.
Bilingual in English/Korean preferred, but not required.
Experience in both in community clinic, FQHC and retail pharmacy setting preferred but not required.
