The Department of Human Services is seeking a seasoned Community Assistance Director with a passion for human services and demonstrated program knowledge in public assistance benefits. With a proven track record for building a culture of servant leadership, building relationships, and supporting teams, the ideal candidate will encourage innovation in a highly regulated environment while collaborating with staff to solve problems and enhance efficiencies. Responsible for a leadership team of seven and an overall team of 268, the Community Assistance Director strives to develop a culture of learning, development, responsibility, accountability, and achievement. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public service, a team oriented and compassionate communication style, and proven fiscal management abilities.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 5 (five) years of progressively responsible human services and/or nonprofit management experience in public assistance benefits that also included at least five years of supervisory experience. Experience in a public sector human services organization is strongly preferred, as is a master’s degree in a human services field.
