The Family Support (FS) trainer provides on-site, real-time training and coaching to LifeCenter employees responsible for facilitating donation conversations and supporting families through the organ and tissue donation process. General Responsibilities:
-Onsite authorization coaching and support for new and existing FS and procurement staff on key elements of family support.
-Imparts best practice techniques for obtaining authorization for donation and enabling family support when first-person authorization was granted.
-Trains on-site staff to policy, procedures, and guidance documents related to:
-Identifying the donor’s legal next of kin (LNOK)
-Authorization and disclosure
-Uniform Donor Risk Assessment Interview (UDRAI) with appropriate historian
-Accurate, complete, and timely documentation in confidential donor record
-Coordinating transition of donor family to LifeCenter’s Aftercare program
-Provides real-time coaching for staff in assessing family readiness, educating, and inspiring families about the potential for donation, collaborating with health care teams, memory-making, documentation, withdrawal of life support, and other donor-family interactions.
-Provides donor registry opposition escalation support, onsite and by phone.
-Provide ongoing feedback and follow-up to staff related to family support performance.
-Completes timely and comprehensive evaluation of staff, communicates evaluation and recommendations to FS Manager.
-In conjunction with FS Manager and other preceptors, determines when staff are prepared to be signed off orientation to work independently and completes all related documentation.
-Provides support and mentorship to FS preceptors.
-Rapid on-site response to support staff development as well as to support donor families at hospitals throughout LCNW’s service area as needed via personal automobile, or commercial or chartered aircraft.
-Provides Compassionate Family Conversation (CFC) training.
-Facilitates in-person and remote didactic and experiential training provided to new and existing FS and procurement staff.
-In collaboration with LifeCenter Training and Development team, FS Training Program Manager and Family Support Manager, create and modify training courses related to family support and donation conversations.
