Description
The Volunteers, Student Internships and Community Relations Assistant Director will support partnership outreach, administrative and data management that improves strategies for development of corporate and community partnerships; and correlates to recruitment and retention goals. Through building Volunteer and Student capacity, the Assistant Director will be involved with the design and content of NAC’s messaging, and the formation of an overall outreach strategy intra-agency and with external partners. The Assistant Director will identify, access and build community partnerships to sustain capacity in the delivery of NAC’s short and long-term projects, activities and events.

Responsibilities:
•Assist Director with recruitment and retention of volunteers, communication with Program Supervisors, and outreach to Corporate and Community partners.
•Assist Director with recruitment and retention of students, communication with Program Supervisors and general support for the Graduate Student Internship program.
•Schedule and conduct interviews with prospective volunteers and students.
•Assist with recruitment of Volunteers for annual events including the NAC Book Fair, Back-to-School Fair and the NAC Olympics and Kids Carnival.
•Spearhead the coordination of NAC’s Holiday Gift Drive by working with corporate and individual sponsors to fulfill the holiday wishes of NAC clients.
•Spearhead the coordination and retention of undergraduate students via CUNY Matching Fairs.
•Coordinate and manage in-kind donations organized by the Volunteer Department.
•Act as the liaison with the Volunteer Chair(s) of the NAC Junior Board regarding volunteer opportunities and activities; available to participate in monthly evening meetings, as needed.
•Write copy for newsletters and provide content for social media posts, following volunteer events, and in preparation for National Volunteer Month.
•Create and update promotional materials and flyers for NAC volunteer events and drives.
•Write thank you notes for all in-kind donations and volunteer groups in a timely manner.
•Attend Volunteer and Student Internship Fairs to represent the agency.
•Maintain up-to-date records on all in-kind donations, manage data for quarterly Board Reports and NAC’s Annual Report, plus other reports as required.
•Track hours related to volunteer, student activities and events using Excel databases.
•Coordinate onboarding process with the Human Resources department.
•Assist in the coordination of volunteers to support NAC’s Annual Gala Benefit.
•Support departmental communication throughout the agency regarding activities and events; including phone calls, email, filing, copying of materials, proof-reading, and handling processing of other department-related matters.
•Special Projects as required.

Skills:
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•Comfortable interfacing with clients, staff and stakeholders
•The successful candidate for this position is detail-oriented, organized, a fast learner, flexible and can work independently with some supervision.
•Familiarity with MS Office Suite, Excel and other administrative tools

Skills
Qualifications:
•Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, Master degree preferred
•Prior experience interfacing with volunteers, students, and/or community entities
•Prior experience in professional work environment
