OVERVIEWThe Senior Supervising Social Worker, works closely with and supports all Anti-Trafficking programing (Anti-Trafficking Initiative (ATI), Anti-Trafficking Policy (ATP), EMPOWER Center and the Legal Department, broadly, to bridge, build and strengthen efforts to collectively combat human trafficking in New York. The Senior Supervising Social Worker, will incorporate a clinical social work lens to all issues related to addressing human trafficking, including victim/survivor response efforts. The Senior Supervising Social Worker will develop ways to making a long lasting impact within the Anti-Trafficking movement, furthering the efforts of Sanctuary for Families as the leading service provider in the Anti-Trafficking space. The Senior Supervising Social Worker will provide direction and supervision to the ATI Case Management team, manage several state and federal grants, and carry a small clinical case load and educate the public, government, social service, legal, medical and law enforcement communities about issues relating to survivors of trafficking and other forms of gender-based violence. The Senior Supervising Social Worker, will advocate for legislative and policy advances that will help close loop holes and address the barriers experienced by survivors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports and collaborates with Directors from all SFF Anti-Trafficking programing on design, strategy, and implementation as well as external functions, planning, and advocacy
- Advocates for the macro and micro needs of survivors of trafficking and/or commercial sexual exploitation in a wide variety of social systems
- Collaborates with government agencies, community-based organizations, and the medical community to improve systemic responses to trafficked individuals
- Identifies opportunities to develop and enhance impact efforts to help further the Anti-Trafficking Movement
- Represents Sanctuary for Families at community events, and on advocacy committees and task forces
- Provides mentorship and direct and group supervision and support to ATI Case Managers and interns, as well as group supervision, training, and support to the Legal Center Case Managers supporting survivors of trafficking
- Provides direct field supervision to MSW interns, including SIFI certification, field practicum application, clinical supervisors meetings, and clinical seminar trainings
- Manages referral system, assigns cases, monitors client progress, ensures compliance with service plans and supports program staff in the screening, intake, funding enrollment, and assessment of client needs
- Responsible for crisis intervention, suicide assessment, safety planning
- Conducts bio-psycho social assessments
- Carries a clinical caseload and provides support, case consultation, and crisis intervention
- Provides affidavits and evaluations for immigration and other legal purposes
- Manages state and federal grants, including reviewing grant requests, liaising with grantors, ensuring compliance and supervising grant reporting
- Oversees the AVODAH Fellowship program
- Perform any other Legal Department or agency-related duties or special projects, as directed by Director
