Employment Specialist is responsible for networking within the community in order to help promote and create job opportunities for youth accessing services throughout Bill Wilson Center Programs. As are young adult population traditionally has difficulty finding and sustaining employment, Employment Specialist will be responsible for individual employment assessments, plans, skill groups and employment counseling to homeless youth as part of a team approach to providing comprehensive client care.

•        Network with other local agencies dealing with issues around employability of difficult populations such as incarcerated and homeless youth.
•        Collaborate with local businesses in order to create ongoing opportunities for employment and internships for clients to participate in.
•        Document services provided, such as jobs obtained and duration of employment in electronic health care record.
•        Provide individual employment counseling and facilitate skill based groups that train and prepare young adults for successful employment
•        Assess young adult’s needs, employment and career paths desired and guide them to resources that support those dreams
•        Assess job readiness, interests and abilities utilizing assessment instruments such as Strong Interest Inventory or Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
•        Assist with job placement and provide ongoing job counseling and support.
•        Coordinate services with Outreach Workers, Counselors, Case Managers and other service providers throughout all Bill Wilson Center youth programs.
•        Work with entire treatment team in coordinating services, and supporting team as needed to maximize client care
•        Regular attendance is a requirement of the position.
•        Other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s Degree in Career Development and Counseling, Social Work or related field from a four-year college or university. Ability to balance excellent client care with meeting deadlines and ensuring positive program goals and outcomes. An understanding of humility and respect for working with homeless youth and families.   Valid CA drivers license with access to a personal vehicle with current Ins. Fingerprinting, TB test required.
