Title: Residential Aide

Program: Third Street Men’s Shelter
 
Program Description:
Third Street is an emergency men’s shelter which helps 170 individuals with substance abuse histories work towards health, sobriety, and, ultimately, permanent housing and employment. In addition to lodging and three meals a day, clients receive comprehensive case management services, plus an array of on-site substance abuse related and health care services provided by different programs, such as Medically Supervised Outpatient Withdrawal Services, (MSOWS), Chemical Dependency Crisis Service (CDCS), and Outpatient Recovery Center.
 

Overall Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Residential Aide Supervisor, the Residential Aide ensures that clients perform their daily life skills activities, adhere to their program activities and objectives, and comply with shelter rules and regulations; performs related work.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties of the Residential Aide include but are not limited to the following activities:

    Assist in the day-to-day operations of a 170 bed men’s substance abuse shelter
       Maintain a safe and secure environment in shelter.
    Conduct hourly House Runs, monitoring activity on all floors, from the sub-basement to the roof.
    Oversee operation of metal detector, x-ray scanner, and security wand for clients entering the shelter.
    Patrol outside yard and surrounding neighborhood.
    Monitor clients’ toxicology reports.
    Distribute mail, appointment slips and other documentation to clients.
    Write detailed incident reports regarding client activity and the condition of entire shelter building.
    Conduct searches of client lockers.
    Manage SCIMS (DHS client database).
    Other duties as they may be assigned.

Qualifications:
    High school diploma
    Knowledge of providing services to homeless substance abusers.

All newly hired Project Renewal staff must provide verification of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
