Behavioral Health Clinical Specialists (Clinical Specialists) work in a variety of different programs, with a great degree of independent discretion and judgment, and are expected to use initiative to attain the program and clinical objectives that are established in collaboration with their supervisor. Typical responsibilities include providing oversight of clinical services, clinical supervision and training to staff, and direct services to adults, youth and families receiving services through County programs. Clinical Specialists interface and collaborate with internal and community-based service providers, ensure compliance with rules and regulations, and attend and/or organize case conferences. While they are not involved in personnel issues or overall administration of the program, they act as a lead staff member on the team.

Please note: Effective January 1, 2017, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) must obtain written confirmation from the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) stating that they meet the requirements to assess and treat couples and families prior to assessing or treating a couple or family client. If you are a LPCC, be sure to answer the corresponding supplemental question and attach your written confirmation from the BBS to your application materials.
