New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) is an award-winning not-for-profit agency in Midtown Manhattan, with a satellite Bronx office, dedicated to serving children and families with medical complexity, chronic health conditions, significant disabilities and behavioral challenges. To assist in achieving this mission, NAC is currently seeking a Music Therapist to join its Mental Health Clinic. • Title of Position: Full-Time Music Therapist

Description of Responsibilities:
•Provides music therapy and psychotherapy sessions to clients in NAC’s Mental Health Clinic, including individual, family, group and collateral sessions;
•Coordinates and maintains appropriate sound equipment, musical instruments and audio files and demonstrates a broad ranging musical repertoire.
•Conducts mental health assessments and develops treatment plans & semi-annual treatment plan reviews;
•Completes all required documentation including, but not limited to, contact forms, progress notes, treatment plans/reviews, psychosocial assessments, anecdotal notations and other documentation as needed within prescribed timeframes;
•Works with the NAC multidisciplinary team, the client’s family, and other service providers in the community as appropriate, to meet treatment goals and assure continuity of care; and
•Performs all duties in accordance with local, state and federal regulations, with NAC’s Mental Health Clinic Treatment Program Policy & Procedures Manual, and according to regulations of Managed Care providers.

Required Education and Experience:
•MT-BC, LCAT with prior experience working with underserved children and their families in an Article 31 or other community-based outpatient mental health clinic.
•Should have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of post-graduate experience treating children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health disorders, specifically children who have experienced trauma.
•Valid NYS license required.
