Company Information
PMHS is a nonprofit mental health and substance abuse center located on a rural Southeastern Alaskan island. Petersburg is a small fishing community. Residents are primarily of Scandinavian and Alaskan Native origins. Population: 3,000. The island is 211 square miles, with 18+ square miles of muskeg bogs. We are a rural Alaskan town with quality gym, pool, school, and library facilities. The Alaska wilderness provides many hiking, kayaking, fishing, and camping opportunities. We are in the Tongass Rainforest. That means it is breathtakingly beautiful. And wet. It rains here. A lot. For more information, see www.petersburg.org.

We provide a wide range of services: psychotherapy (individual, couples, family, group), outpatient substance abuse treatment, case management, psychiatric emergency services, and life skill development.

We serve all populations, from severely emotionally disturbed children and chronically mentally ill adults to individuals seeking general mental health or substance abuse services. PMHS has built its success on interdisciplinary teamwork and we have strong mutual relationships with local agencies. We hold 27 years of top quality-assurance scores from the state of Alaska.

Adding a member to our small team is a carefully considered task. We have an excellent staff retention record for a rural Alaskan behavioral health center.
