PROGRAM;
MADONNA HEIGHTS SERVICES         LOCATION:             RESIDENTIAL TREATMEMT FACILITY, RTF DIX HILLS, NY 11746

BASIC FUNCTION
The Child Care Counselors will assist the adolescent female residents with daily living skills necessary to prepare them for greater competence and independence in the community.   
      
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise, nurture, counsel and support adolescent females as a positive role model.
• Maintain an awareness of each resident’s emotional, physical and spiritual needs and refers her to other team members (when necessary).
• Provides immediate therapeutic crisis intervention in order to provide structure and discipline in line with policies.
• As a member of the treatment team contributes to the formulation of individual
treatment plans for each resident through the submission of written reports, and participation in meetings; carries out treatment plans where appropriate.
• Implements recreational activities that make leisure time a positive, rewarding experience.

The Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) is home to fourteen adolescent girls. It was created as an alternative to psychiatric placement and provides mental health treatment services for its residents. A major focus of the program is to help our residents understand their own feelings and to develop the emotional health and skills necessary to function within their communities.

Madonna Heights Services in Dix Hills merged with St. Christopher-Ottilie in 1996. Expanding beyond the original mission to provide children with a loving home, St. Christopher-Ottilie today has broadened its scope to serve the needs of the entire family through programs such as residential housing, preventive care programs, employment programs and community-based congregate care. Throughout its rich history, the goal of this organization has remained consistent and challenging: to enhance the quality of life for children and adults in need.
