Wayside Youth and Family Support Network - a non-profit human service organization dedicated to the support and advancement of adolescents and families throughout the Metro West area – is seeking an experienced certified special education teacher; grades 7-12 for a small private special education therapeutic day school. Candidate must have skill, passion and understanding of student population with impairments in the area of emotional, behavioral, trauma, as well as, residential placements. School year is 220 days. Pluses include: bi-lingual, leadership, teaching with behaviorally challenged youth, diversity and demonstrated commitment to improvement of others. Teacher will provide history based curriculum as outlined by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Teacher must be skilled in meeting standards, MCAS prep and classroom management. Strong written skills. Requires flexibility as a team member. Requires strong communication skills and proactive initiatives with parents and guardians. Experience with youth of DCF resources, Teacher will work 220 day/school year.
